Mumbai City FC crowned their maiden Indian Super League trophy beating ATK Mohun Bagan FC. Earlier Mumbai City won the league winners shield along with a chance to be part in AFC Champions League group stage.

The Islanders earlier was unbeaten by ATK Mohun Bagan in two games in this league stage. Both the teams finished the season with 40 points. Atletico de Kolkata was merged with Mohun Bagan in this season and name was changed as ATK Mohun Bagan. ATK had won the league title last season. It was the first loss of ATK in an ISL final.

So far the final was dramatic. The match was held in Jawarhar Lal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. David Williams scored the opening goal of the match. Later, in the first half, an own goal of Tiri has become the biggest mistake of ATK. The first half ended on a sad note when Mumbai City's right back Amey Ranawade was seriously injured after colliding with Subhasish Bose. Later he has been taken to a hospital for further medical care.

Both the teams struggled to make lead in the second half, but failed to find the net. Mumbai also scored an own goal and luckily it was an offside. And in the dying minute of the game Bipin Sigh scored a spectacular goal with Ogbeche's assist and marked his name as the hero of the ISL final match. 

Sergio Lobera has joined Mumbai City in this season has won the league winners shield and the ISL Trophy. He had also won league winners shield with FC Goa in the last season. This is his third ISL trophy.
