SPORTS DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA
How far does India have to go, to become a country with a better sporting system?
Anaswara V Rajan
India is one of the countries that promote sports on a large scale. But India does not have the resources needed for the growth of sports. It has to be said that India has not grown in sports despite having an institute like the Sports Authority of India (SAI) stands for the development of sports in the country. India's performances and fortifications in Olympic games and a most praised sport like football are perfect examples of this. If there is to be sports development in India, it is up to the government to take the initiative first. The government should ensure the resources the nation requires. So that, changes can be brought slowly from the grass-root level. Thus, the country can bring a generation of sportsmanship.
Although a variety of programs can be organized regularly for the growth of sports. So that participation can be increased. People of all generations should be made aware of the greatness of sports. Successful sports development depends only on effective partnership with a wide range of community groups, National Governing Bodies, local authorities, voluntary groups, etc. India should become the venue for more popular competitions in the upcoming years. There will be growth when changes are brought in, and every citizen can be proud when India becomes one of the leading countries which have a better sporting infrastructure.
