He died but his legacy lives: Farewell to you Diego Maradona

Argentina's Golden Boy died last day following a heart attack at home. He has various health issues over the years as  a result of his addictions. At the beginning of this month he was hospitalised and underwent emergency surgery for a subdural hemetoma.

Maradona was born on 30 October 1960 in Lanus, Buenos Aires, a southern outskirts of Argentina. At age eight he showed up the signs of a talented player while playing in a neighbourhood club Estrella Roja. Then he became a smartest player in Los Cebollitas (The Little Onions), the junior team of Buenos Aires' Argentinos Juniors. The legend started his professional club career in 1976 in Argentinos juniors, became the youngest player in the history of Argentine Primera Division, a professional football league in Argentina. He spent five years there, scoring 115 goals from 167 matches. Later on 1981 he has signed in Boca Juniors.

Maradona started his international football career at the age of 16 in 1977 and made his debut against Hungary. And at the age of 18 he played the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship and named as star of the tournament, scoring a total of six goals in six appearances in the tournament.  He has played four FIFA World Cup tournament, made his debut in 1982 but couldn't shined as the nation expected. He got the world recognition in 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, after scoring two goals in a 2-1 victory against England. He has scored the opening goal of the match was made many controverises as he striked the ball with his hand. Since it was the time the VAR technology doesn't exist, his goal was not disallowed by referees. Maradona described the goal "a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God". It became very popular as the "Hand of God". He himself scored the second goal of the game through his powerful dribbling skill. And then Argentina, captained by Diego Maradona has won their second World Cup title in 1986 against West Germany. He has captained again in 1990 World Cup. After failing a drug test for ephedrine doping he played only two games of 1994 World Cup. The one game against Greece, he scored a goal and that has turned out to be his last international goal for Argentina and the other against Nigeria was his last game for Argentina. In Argentina national team he scored scored a total of 34 goals in 91 caps. After his retirement he managed Argentina national team and other club football teams.

Diego Armando Maradona was an advanced playmaker who was known as one of the greatest of all times. He was described as a "classic number 10", usually played in a role of attacking midfielder or as a second striker. He was great in dribbling, close ball control, passing and creativity, also has a ability in finishing and goal scoring. He was nicknamed as "El Pibe de Oro" (The Golden Boy). His life was documented  as Diego Maradona, directed by Asif Kapadia with never before seen footage from Maradona's personal archive. The film was screened out of competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.  He has played in Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, and Newell's Old Boys. Naples mayor Luigi De Magistris has urged Napoli to rename their San Paolo home as a tribute to late club idol.

The world loss an eternal genius who has made unforgettable sporting moments for the football world.
