The most explosive player in this generation, Cristiano Ronaldo started his senior club career with Manchester United 17 years ago this day. The Portuguese International, played for United from 2003-2009. In 2009 he joined the Spanish club Real Madrid and currently playing for Italian Serie A club Juventus from 2018. He has won 7 League titles, 5 UEFA titles , 1 UEFA European Championship, and 1 UEFA Nations League title.
Ronaldo was 18 when Sir Alex Ferguson impressed by him and signed him to United. He considered Ronaldo as one of the most exciting young players he had ever seen. Ronaldo mentioned him as "He's been my father in sport. One of the most important and influential factor in my career".
He got the number 7 shirt previously won by the legends George Best, Eric Cantona, and David Beckham. Ronaldo made his debut in Premeir League in a 4-0 victory over Botton Wanderes in 16 August 2003 at Old Trafford. George Best praised his performance "undoubtedly the most exciting debut" he had ever seen. He scored first career goal for United with a free-kick against Portsmouth. He got a red card in the first season against Aston Villa. He scored a opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Millwall in FA Cup Final. So as he earned his first trophy in the first season itself. Ronaldo scored Manchester United's 100th Premeir League goal against Middlesbrogh. The Football League Cup earned against Wigam Athlete.
There were many incident in the third season. He had been imposed ban for 'one figured gesture' towards Benfica fans. And in the same season his teammate Wayne Rooney sent off and he was eager to leave United. But the then coach Rene Meulesteen make himself more predictable and unbelievable. He taught him to capitalise on goalscoring opportunities. This season was his career break through.
In the fourth season 2006-07 Ronaldo started acquring personal achievements. He won Professional Footballers' Association's Player's Player, Fan's Player, Young Player of the Year, Football Writer's Association's Footballer of the Year. He became the first to Winn all four PFA and FWA honours. Ronaldo scored his first and only hat-trick for United in 2008 against Newcastle United. He scored two goals against Bolton. The second goal is his 33rd goal for the club which breaked the record of George Best's total of 32, 1967-68. He won Premeir League Golden boot, European Golden Shoe, and also PFA's Player's Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the year. 2008-2009 season was the final season in Manchester United.
He won his 100th career goal in all competition in this season. Ronaldo helped United to win FIFA Club World Cup in Japan by assisting the final winning goal against Liga de Quito and won Silver Ball this season. In 2008 season he won the prestigious Balloon d'Or for the first time. First Premeir League player to be named the FIFA World Player of the Year. Final ever goal for Manchester United came on 10 May 2009 with a free-kick in the Madrid Derby at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo apperaed in 196 matches and scored 84 goals for Manchester United. The five times Balloon d'Or winner, Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He is the UCL's all time top scorer with 130 goals.
